Daddy

Sometimes I think the funniest thing about him is that I found him normal-

Getting pulled over, breaking down, breaking back in,
my bloody hand from climbing a fence to get to school and the mysterious sock
that we used to clot, and how that was god.

Rock walls tied to the truck while directing traffic on the interstate
so that ducks could pass- It was

SMOOTH AS BUTTER! BOWL OF SUGAR! WHOO-

Dinosaur statue in the yard, and the golden frog in the living room,
and the standing on the roof to watch the storm roll in, but then
staying on the roof since Rosie pulled the ladder down, as
he’d tied her to it to keep her safe, when she’d only wanted to run.

Smashing the bug onto my clean wall with a broom, scraped the wall sweeping it down,
and the night you locked my fiance out of the house-

I find it normal!

You weren’t the one to, by accident, burn the house down.
Ironic, but it should be obvious- They don’t know you like I do.
Spears, throw sticks, grape vine swings,
demonstrating how eagles mate, in Olive Garden!

My staples. You are normal! That means I am normal too.
I will keep your staples that survived the fire when you die.

In my art and soul, I keep you.

    • Hahaha! A little bit.
      Love you too!
The main inspiration for this poem was actually the recent peace frog incident, the time Donna laughed at Lyssi’s basketball game about you wearing flip flops and shorts in November, and one time when we were all home for the holidays and you disappeared only to suddenly walk by much later on the porch wearing a headlamp or something, hahaha. MADE SENSE TO ME.

    Hi

Thanks for the follow(s) * (+ likes), as the reason I write is to share.
    * (Though my family and close friends say it would be far more entertaining with a video-camera # in “real life”, rather than in cyberspace!)

    # By the way, do they still make them in today’s ever-faster changing world..or is it all done with mobile phones?

(get with the times now,”luddite”* c – it should be a smart phone)

    * or so I was often called by my “my techno-geek” friend, Bill (“the gonk”)

“total non-techno” c (who doesn’t possess a mobile phone, after a rather eventful’ experience some years back, whilst trying to walk, talk and chew gum at the same time)

    Who says men can’t multi-task!

Kind regards and all the best with your blog
