On Epilepsy and Company Names

I’m into definitions today,
because I couldn’t have spelled out before
how tonic involves emotional connotations
of certain notes combined,

how mixing tonic with alcohol
is a common means of falling over,
how another tonic by itself
can fix how you’re lying limp on the couch;

I just knew of the tonic that tightened you first
and thus sent you falling down,

knew how clonic tag-teams,
like you needed a second reason to fall,

when I never wanted a reason at all!
So I get tense just hearing “tonic”.

Because I’m a connotations girl.
Never been much for defining.
