I think of it as simply two different ways to say the same thing- One could argue that the apt metaphor is that their heart is too small, or one could argue that the apt metaphor is that their heart is too big!
But I can see your interpretation as well!
I really liked your post! I was just exploring possible implications. I think our hearts are going to take a beating either way. In the end if we can truly love and be truly loved, then it is worth the pain.
