On Patience, Pt. 1

I remember drowning
in waves,

how God knelt upon the sea
and placed a gift behind me,

and my anxiety,

of what was inside and whether
it could keep me alive,

but I did not want
to squeeze the package.

I reached out my hands and clutched,
fingered his face to see

what lay inside this
being who holds our lives.

He wrapped his arms around me
and started untying;

A glorious light was shining
off his arms, eternally up,
eternally down.

I spun and spun, and spun and spun around.
